White Collar Season One Review

White Collar is a interesting show it follows Niel Caffery an Art Forger, Charmer and a Con Artist. He breaks out of prison to find his girlfriend Kate who decides to leave him and go A.W.O.L. 

 

At the same time FBI agent Peter Burke is looking for a criminal they call the dutchman just as peter looses valuable evidence to catch him hes pulled off the investigation to find Niel Peter finds Niel at his girlfriends old apartment Niel is captured but he asked Peter for a meeting when hes back in prison

While at the meeting Niel asks to peter to set him free as a aid to the FBI in catching other criminals peter rectulently agrees but Niel has to wear a tracking anklet that only allows him with in two miles of his home

Once Niel is free he starts a mission (with his old friend mozzie) to find his girlfriend behind peters back while helping peter catch con-men all around New York

This is really the premise of white collar Niel and Peter make a good duo they are witty and come out with entertaining one liners at times but they never loose the serious side through out the entire series it makes them believable characters that you can like they also deliver  their lines with great emotion and strength

White Collar is a fascinating series that can keep you on the edge of your seat thought every episode if you haven’t checked it out yet you really should

Battlefield 3 Alpha Review

Let me just get this out of the way Battlefield 3 alpha is amazing if Battlefield 3 is anything like it they have a purchase from me (unfortunately I cant post any photos thanks to a non disclosed agreement but I can talk about it thanks to the face that the nda expired after august first )

The alpha consists of one map called operation metro a map in pairs. The map consists of four areas to capture and as usual the attackers have 75 lives to capture each base and each base is very varied from the last one. If your a lone wolf player your out of luck victory relays on your entire team and to make it harder the map funnels you as you go along. I think the attackers one one to two out of ten games I played so a lot of teamwork is necessary

The class have been also balanced very nicely no one is to powerful

Sniper has range but lacks short range power also snipers now have lens flare of their scopes so their position is blown instantly but to make their lives even more difficult their is idle sway off the rifle

Engineer is probably my favorite nothing has really changed just they use smgs and some carabine rifles and usually they have a rpg to defend themselves from tanks and choppers the repair tool has been replace with a blow torch which looks really nice throwing sparks in many directions

Assault is a nice class as well they have a medic pack defibrillators and assault rifles that have a lot of damage but have a heavy kick back with each fire

Last is support they have heavy weapons and ammo packs they are designed to suppress the other players naturally their weapons are the least accurate but have the fastest fire rate but you can get a biped which makes the weapon deadly accurate but the player looses mobility so a smart sniper will have a easy shot

Progression between the different bases is very nice for example after the first base has fallen two fighter jet come down and bomb part of the map giving the troops a way into the metro

Customization is very good in battlefield 3 sort of similar to Medal Of Honor (2010) you can change the barrel the sight and much more but of course each upgrade has a cost for example you can mount a heavy barrel which increases damage of each shot but increases the recoil   or a laser sight that isn’t always accurate but will shine in other peoples eyes ruining the stealth advantage you may have had everything is nicely balanced and its a good sign for the actual game

Assassinations are a new thing to melee combat in battlefield 3 in this you character pulls out the knife and stabs the other player in a quick gruesome fashion.  Usually putting it through the other person’s neck its a lot slower but unlike battlefield bad company 2 its guaranteed to kill them rather than slide over them or through them

Another improvement is that you can choose to survive a defibrillator shot in this game you kinda go into a second chance mode and it says something like press space to live and if you do you get up and walk it off

Battlefield is shaping up to be a great game with alot more progression and skill involved to play it i cant wait to see what dice have in store for us at release date

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review

The original Deus ex is a hard game to live up to especially since its been so long since a major title in this franchise so hype was very high for this game as expected (Personally I felt before playing this that game was going to be another duke Nukem forever). But Deus EX really surprised me its a tight really well made game.

It’s also very visually diverse when compared to most other game’s with its primary colors being yellow and black which is welcome from the gritty browns in used to seeing

The game takes place in many locations around the world including Detroit and Shanghai in the year 2027. Humanity has gone into a new Renaissance and people have started replacing their body parts with mechanized parts (the game calls this augmentation). There are to main groups in the people

Purists: people against augmentation who feel that augmenting our body parts is morally wrong and that we sacrifice our humanity in the process

And people who support augmentation because they feel this the next evolutionary steep for humans (they don’t really have a name from what I can gather)

In this game you play as Adam Jensen a ex-swat police officer who is now working for Sarif industries (the company which augments people)

Adam is preparing to go to Washington D.C. and he is in charge of the security from the airport to to Capitol hill while he is in the CEO’s office talking to the head of Sarif industries their is a security alert in one of the levels and Adam has to stop the attackers (this serves as a tutorial for players) at the end of the tutorial he is badly injured (after been thrown through a window)  and to make things better for him hes shot for good measure

Adam is dieing and cant be stabilized due to the injuries he sustained. To save his life the CEO of seraph decides to augment Adam turning him into a super lethal cyborg

After this we learn that during the attack serif industries lost many of its top scientists one of which was Adams girlfriend after which Adam goes on a quest to find those responsible which escalates into a conspiracy theory for epic proportions

I wont go any further than that into the story to avoid spoilers

the story is very good but what really makes this game shine is the facet that the game lets you go deeper into it if you want all around the levels are computers and news papers that give you a insight into the world of Deus Ex. Another thing the game does is it references things your character does in game and how you did it on the in game news. The immersion level because of this is fantastic  its par on par with other epics like mass effect But don’t be amazed if this game reminds you of mass effect at times because the similarities are there its clear that the developers took a few notes form biowares notebook (not that that is a bad thing)

Whats most impressive about Deus ex is how each level can be approached in a different way for example i can avoid the combat and go in stealthy and hack a keypad to get to the objective or I can run in with a machine gun and mow the bad guys down with a assault rifle. This freedom is what makes Deus ex great it allows you to play as you choose  and rewards you for it too with experience points to augment your self further for example you can get a augmentation that turns you temporally invisible allowing you to sneak past a patrol or another thing you can do is charm people into helping you

All of these features really add to Gameplay its a pity that during the game you are occasionally thrown feet first into boss battles so if you’ve saved up on all you sneaky augmentations your out of luck because you cant sneak past these fights and you have to kill the boss so the game turns into a first person shooter where mindlessly shooting is the only goal. So if your not a big fan of boss battles where you spend twenty minutes fighting the same person your out of luck

Damn this stealth augmentation isnt helping

The worst part is that you cant change your augmentations on the fly like Crysis  2 where if stealth doesn’t work you can change in the blink of an eye into a walking tank in that sense the game is a little cruel but it does make it challenging for you to play

These boss battles and loading times that are a tad to long are really the only the really bad aspect’s of a other wise amazing game I would recommend you get this and give it a go

Halo Reach Review

Halo Reach is a game about a group of special forces called Spartans and this game is focused on nobel team a group of 6 of these Spartans

the game is set around 2555 and humans have taken over every part of the milky way and run into an evil alien race who for no apparent reason just hate people (because you know aliens are always the bad guys) and your only objective form then on is just to shoot them in the face

The only problem is you begin to see errors in the game, for example the armor they wear apparently weights half a ton but yet they can jump run and use jet packs with ease, another thing is the jeeps and helicopters have no difficulty carrying four of five of them which is odd to say the least. Other things which are odd are things like at the start of the game  the people show no shock or horror that the evil group of aliens just landed on the planet oddly enough the people don’t even notice they are there until a week after they arrive, oddly no one decided to put radar on the planet (because after all that would be a stupid idea) and after that I could not stop see it and other plot holes

How did you guys get here

another thing is that the game tells you the ending at the very start of the game the first scene in the game is your characters helmet lying on the ground with a bullet hole through the visor (what do you think happened)

the other thing is that the members of noble team love to kill themselves one of them for example decides to blow up a big ship and then decides to stay on it (just to see what happens) another decides to crash his big fighter jet into the side of a giant robot its weird because the members of nobel team are dyeing noble deaths

this is not saying the game is bad it just is not perfect (in the single player department) there is a lot of thing to go crazy for like the multiplayer which is one of the most fleshed out i have seen in a good while and there is a map editing tool called forge which will entertain for years there is also a firefight mode which is you fighting against aliens until you die or get board

the single player isn’t bad either it does entertain for the eight hours you would play it also has a lot of set pieces that will amaze such as the level in space and  others

in closing halo reach is a fun entertaining that any fps fan will enjoy its only down side is that it has a few minor flaws which let it down so if you play a game for single player this might be a rent but if you want a multiplayer focused game this is for you
